South African Squid or the Cape Hope Squid is only available in South African waters and  they are found off the South and West Coasts, from False Bay, Port Elizabeth to Port Alftred. It is also known by the locals as calamari or ‘chokka’ and is very popular for its texture and quality. They are caught with hand line jigs and immediately blast frozen on board specially designed freezer boats.
